Based on the article on reading and writing biology, it records that reading rules more so to science like biology entails four steps. These steps include pre-reading whereby the reader has to develop a basic understanding of what the article entails as the general feature of the article. The second step is first reading whereby the reader has to understand the main points of the article. Third is the reading whereby the reader has to develop a sophisticated understanding of the text. Finally, there is the for the known as evaluation of the reading whereby the reader has to summarize the authors points
According to the marked text in the article, my opinion based on the same would be that during a reading session, the reader had to single out important points on the article such as the hypothesis because it gives a tentative assumption on the text. On the other hand, the theory that may be existing in the article is circled as it also gives the summary of the article at a glance. Circling texts such as the assertion will also clarify the objectives of the papers hence help the reader to narrow down to the main points of the text.
In summary, marking text during reading will purpose to highlight with an aim of distinguishing important concepts on an article. It may also enable one to identify mistakes on ones’ notes. Additionally, marking text also enables the reader to provide a quick summary of an article to be read or even a book in question.
Evaluation of article on “Meno.”
First, a pre-reading on the article, this is major to gain basic of the concept of what the article is all about. It enables the reader to identify the characters in the discussion; that is Socrates and Meno as well as the matter in a discussion which is the virtue. This reading is done quickly in the shortest time possible. To find out what the thesis or conclusion could be on the article, the reader has to undertake first-reading. With this in mind, the reader can understand that the thesis of the of the article is finding a protonate definition of the word virtue.
In addition, the third reading of the articles which is also referred to as deep reading, it is clear that the reader develops a sophisticated understanding of the article. The understanding is that virtue, as described by Meno, does not win the approval of Socrates who defies it that it a virtue is that which a person aspires to be in the coming days. Further reading on the article, it clear that the reader will be marking end laying emphasis on the marked texts such as virtue and the definition.
With such reading, it is clear that that real born of contention is no even the definition but the strained relationship between Meno and Secretes. Meno concludes that Secretes as a predetermined opinion about other people’s opinion hence his disapproval towards them in certain issues.
Initially, I could read an article on a single stand without marking texts as well as avoiding reading the article over and over again. It is of an added advantage to learn that re-reading article being deeper understanding on the writing in question. In conclusion, reading steps discussed above should be embraced by every reader at all time to create ease in understanding and memory on concepts learned.
