Persuasive Essay on giving back to Greenpeace Fund

For human beings to be coined humans, they must have humanity with them every time. By definition, humanity is the act of being compassionate, sympathetic, or generous behavior or disposition. Humans should be compassionate, generous, and have empathy without being compromised. However, humanity seems to be fading away with the increasing degradation of the ecosystem from human activities leading to pollution and other effects (Kutz, 2018). Environmental protection organizations like Greenpeace fund does not get full support from the people. Greenpeace fund has been at the forefront of handling environmental problems like ocean pollution, sustainable food, and deforestation (Greenpeace Fund, 2020). It depends on individual support from its members across the globe. Therefore, if we still believe there is an aspect of humanity in us, then let support Greenpeace fund by volunteering, attending events, and becoming a member.

Non-profit organization: Greenpeace Fund

Greenpeace fund is a non-profit organization that deals with environmental issues across the globe. The organization was set to go on with the important work of Greenpeace through increased public awareness and research. The mission of the organization is “To expose environmental issues and promote solutions for future generations.” Greenpeace fund leads globally as an independent environmental protection organization with a membership of more than 3.5 million (Greenpeace Fund, 2020). The organization entirely depends on the support of its members to run its operations across the world. Greenpeace has been advocating for living a toxic-free life, protecting the oceans, forests, and fighting global warming. The organization is playing a significant role in advocating for the protection of the environment.

Prior to making an effort to support Greenpeace Funds, we must understand the importance of the environment. We all understand that the natural environment is the most crucial thing for humans. Every living thing in nature depends on each other for survival (Kutz, 2018). For instance, we need plants to provide fresh air and food to survive, and plants need water and sunlight to survive on Earth. This is the relationship between ecosystems, and no living thing can survive by itself. However, as humans, we never recognize the importance of this issue, and we continue to use large amounts of natural resources to build technology, make our lives more convenient, and develop our economy. Because human beings use too many natural resources and produce much pollution for the environment, it has already started to ruin our beautiful Earth.

As we all know, trees are a crucial resource for our lives. Trees not only supplies us with oxygen but also offer food and improve our environment. Without trees, there will be no oxygen, and we cannot survive on Earth. Although we all know the importance of trees, there are still some people who continuously cut down trees for their benefit. The result of this issue is that many cities are lacking trees, which causes many environmental issues in different countries across the globe. The term “Trees are scarce” is because people are cutting down trees without planting others. In all countries across the world, shows that people are ignorant of the importance of trees. As a result, trees are being moved from the countryside to cities. Transporting trees from countries does not improve the cities pollution, and instead, it will damage the countryside’s environment too.

Climate change is here with us and affects every human being on the earth’s surface. Different countries across the globe have begun to experience rising temperatures. Rising temperatures have a link to most climate change’s adverse impacts, like more regular and intense heat waves, crop failures across the globe, and dramatic changes in animal and plant ranges (Tesh, 2018). Besides, there are also cases of rising sea levels. For example, the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast of the United States are experiencing some of the world’s fastest rates of sea-level rise. Some of the countries have been continuously hit with hurricanes and tornadoes. In addition to this, there are a lot more impacts of climate change that come because of human activities that pollute the environment.

Ways to give back to Greenpeace Fund

Looking at the impacts of the degrading ecosystem, we do not have other choices other than to work together to protect the Earth. In this light, the Greenpeace fund offers a good platform for us to participate in protecting the environment. One thing that we should remember is that the effects like climate change issues affect everyone regardless of whether they contributed to the effect or not (Scarce, 2016). It is worth noting that environmental impacts are universal and are not selective. With this in mind, we should strive to support Greenpeace fund to help protect the environment. We can support the organization in various ways. First, one can register and become a member of the Greenpeace Fund. The organizations offer various avenues of supporting them in protecting the environment.

It is very easy and simple to start supporting Greenpeace. An interested fellow can start sharing Greenpeace campaigns on social media. With the rise in technology, social media platforms are becoming important for the sharing of any form of information. One is only required to create their campaign and inform Greenpeace Fund leadership (Greenpeace Fund, 2020). With permission from the leaders, one can begin sharing information about protecting the Earth from damage. The person will become an ambassador of the organization in his or her country, guiding and educating people of the visions of Greenpeace of protecting and making the world a better place. To achieve this, the person will be required to share content from the organization only.

The other way to give is by participating in Greenpeace Fund projects. Organizations are different on the types of projects they undertake to attain their mission (Miller-Rushing, Primack & Bonney, 2012). Greenpeace Fund focuses on projects like protecting the oceans, waste management, living toxic-free life, fighting global warming, saving the arctic, and protecting the forests. Some projects are seasonal, like tree plantings, where survival rates are higher during the rainy season. In regards to this, inquire about when the organization will carry out their projects and where they will happen. With this information, you can determine and schedule your assistance. For instance, one the day of the project, you can join the team for free. If the organization is advocating for waste management, you can share the message on social media to inform the people.

The other way to give back to Greenpeace is to attend their events. Normally, organizations hold different kinds of events. These events could include trainings, seminars, fundraisers, clean-ups, plantings, and birdwatching, amongst others. “Greenpeace’s mission is to expose global environmental problems and promote solutions for future generations (Greenpeace Fund, 2020).” To achieve this mission, the organization plans for different events across the globe. It is important for one to inquire with the local Greenpeace department or contact the main organization through email, SMS, or phone calls with the contact information provided on the website on what kinds of events they may hold or will hold. After such an inquiry, ask to attend the event. Some of the events might be charged while others may not depending on the decision of the management and the type of event. However, your donation or presence aids the organization.

Another way to give is by volunteering your skills. One should consider offering something they do or studying to Greenpeace Fund. For instance, a student should volunteer for their school’s environmental organization. It will be a good opportunity and time to start a life-long dedication to the environment by building friendships with like-minded youth and meeting environmental experts (García-Valiñas, Macintyre & Torgler, 2012). Use what you learn in the classroom coupled with information from Greenpeace Fund by exercising them as a volunteer. Student-led organizations are easier to join because one of their objectives is often to cultivate the skills of fellow students. Through this, you will be supporting the mission and vision of the Greenpeace Fund in protecting the environment.

In addition, as a young or veteran professional, you can participate in supporting in protecting the environment (Miller-Rushing, Primack & Bonney, 2012). You already know what people are willing to pay you to do. Now apply that skill or profession with the organization to support in protecting the environment. Contact Greenpeace Fund and indicate the services you would like to offer free. In this light, since you already know how much time it takes you to do what you do best, simply create some time, especially over the weekends, or a few hours in the evening or morning to dedicate it to the environment. For instance, you can use your knowledge in the advertisement to promote the contents of the Greenpeace Funds. With this, you will be helping the organizations in reaching out to the world about the environment.

One can also provide long-term support on an annual or monthly basis. Since Greenpeace Fund accepts members, one can decide to become a member. In addition, almost all organizations accept any form of donation donations. According to Greenpeace Fund, “one can make a generous donation of $1000 or more or join as a monthly member at $42 a month or greater (Greenpeace Fund, 2020).” Rather than eating pizza every day, dedicate that money to Greenpeace and provide it every month. If you believe that making a monthly contribution is a burden, you can make a yearly contribution. To achieve this, you can put a small amount of money aside in an envelope or savings account on a monthly basis, and then donate the whole amount to the organization at the end of the year. Some of the benefits that come with being a member of Greenpeace Fund are an invitation to special events, special recognition in an annual report, and access to personal Greenpeace liaison. Moreover, giving longer-term help shows Greenpeace managers that there are people in the world who believe in their cause. However, most importantly, it strengthens your relationship with the organization and its actions.

Conclusion

We all have the responsibility of protecting the environment from damage. First, we should understand that the environment is the most important resource for life that we need to protect at all costs. It is worth noting that everything that supports life emanates from the environment. In this regard, we should support organizations like Greenpeace Fund to allow them to attain their vision and mission in creating a better society. Secondly, one can give to support Greenpeace other than money. We should understand that it is not all about money; organizations like Greenpeace require other support mechanism like participating in their projects, attending their events and forums, volunteering, and offering long-term support. Therefore, we should strive to identify where we can support the organization.
