Remember that your goal is to convince your audience to agree with you. As you write, and as you practice your delivery, keep in mind these aspects of speechmaking:
● Envision your audience and think about which appeals and reasons are likely to sway them.
● Begin strongly, perhaps with a startling anecdote, an interesting fact, an important statistic, or a meaningful quotation.
● State your claim clearly, early in the speech.
● Present plenty of supporting evidence.
● Anticipate potential counterarguments and respond to them.
● Use an appropriate mix of emotional and logical appeals.
● Use strong, precise language to give life to your facts and ideas.
● Use your voice, eye contact, and body language to make your content persuasive.
Speak with the pride of your opinions!
