Description

  1. Go to the Learner. Org site and locate the case study called “William Finds His Base: A Student Case Study”
    (see link below)

  2. Review the Case
    a. Read through the “video summary”
    b. Read through “information about the student, the teacher and the class”
    c. Read through the “before viewing” section to prepare for your observation
    d. Watch the videos contained under the “First Impressions, Looking Closer Video Segments (1-3) and Parent,
    Teacher Student Working Together Video Segment), take notes on what you see based on the questions provided
  3. Write a 6-10 page paper that includes:
    • A title page that includes assignment title, your name, course number, instructor name and submission date
    • A summary of the information you gained about the child, teacher and class
    • A summary of what you learned about the child’s reading ability by watching the following videos (First
    Impressions, Looking Closer Video Segments (1-3) and Parent, Teacher Student Working Together Video
    Segment)
    • Application to Learning Theories
    Review the learning theories described in the text in Chapters 2 & 3 (e.g. cognitive development (Piaget &
    Vygotsky), psychosocial development (Erikson) and moral development (Kolhberg)
